• Parque Nacional Iguazú
It was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1984 owing to its beautiful landscapes and large biodiversity of the subtropical forest, but the main attraction of this NP are the Iguazú Waterfalls, one of the world’s natural wonders. More than 270 falls form this spectacle of nature, being the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) the most impressive one of all with its 80mts high. You can get really close to it! The Iguaçu National Park, in the Brazilian side, is as must to visit as well. If we compared the Iguazú falls with a theatre, we can say the Brazilian side is the most panoramic so it’s like watching the performance from your seat, when the Argentinean one is like being on stage, so we recommend you to plan a full day in each one to get the most out form it.
• San Ignacio Ruins
Was one of the many missions founded by the Jesuits in the Americas during the Spanish colonial period, and owing to the fact that it may be the most outstanding surviving example of the 30 missions built by them, and its preservation state, it was declared World Heritage site by the UNESCO the same year than the Iguazú falls. Book a tour from your hostel front-desk in order to visit, they are two hours down south from Puerto Iguazú city, and it’s really worth to do it with a tour guide.
